Welcome to Illawarra Alpaca Stud, one of Australia’s largest and oldest privately owned alpaca herds! We are foundation members of SRS® Alpacas International and the Australian Alpaca Association (AAA), and shareholders of Australian Alpaca Fleece Ltd (AAFL).

Illawarra Alpacas are situated in Cambewarra, near Nowra (2 hours drive south from Sydney) on the South Coast of New South Wales. The herd, of over 500 mostly white and light huacaya alpacas, runs on Ian and Harriet Davison’s 250 acre property. Our alpacas have been widely acclaimed in fleece and led championships since 1992. We are suppliers of quality stock to new breeders, to established breeders, and by export to overseas breeders in Asia and Europe.

We have a long term vision and commitment to the alpaca industry, aiming to stay at the cutting edge of genetic improvement based on the application of scientifically derived breeding values (AGE: Across-herd Genetic Evaluation), embryo transfer technology, and the SRS® Breeding System.
